Yes this is Motorsport - Jet sprinting began in New Zealand in the early 1980s. It originally used courses on designated sections of braided rivers such as this one on the Waimakariri River, 1984. New Zealand jet sprinters have now adopted the Australian system. Encyclopedia of New Zealand.

Chris Amon was born in Bulls, Manawatū, and began racing in the Formula One Grand Prix series in 1963. From 1965 he drove for fellow New Zealander Bruce McLaren's team and the two men won the Le Mans 24-hour sports-car race in 1966. Amon later drove for Ferrari. Encyclopedia of New Zealand photo.

Denis 'Denny' Hulme - At the age of 29 he entered his first Formula One race for the Brabham team. This photo shows him in 1967, when he won the 11-race Formula One World Championship. Hulme died in 1992 while competing in the Bathurst 1000. Encyclopedia of New Zealand Photograph.
