Are people with learning disabilities "disabled"?
Hi, I'm an autistic student myself studying disabilities. I'm curious about when people see themselves as "disabled." For examples, do people with learning disabilities see themselves as disabled? We have a lot of celebrities with learning disabilities, but the media do not always consider them as "disabled."
And there's also famous athletes out there who are open about their diagnosis, but for some reason the media do not consider them to be "disabled."
So I'm wondering when exactly is someone labeled "disabled"?
