That makes no sense, your doctor is wrong. You can't not taper off 30mg Prednisone to budesonide, they do not have the same effect on the rest of the body.

I’m so glad you asked this question. My insurance is taking its time to authorize budesonide, so my GI put me on prednisone to start. (In past flares, I’ve only had budensonide!) Her nurse said to just swap them when the budesonide is approved. I am going to follow up before doing it now. But ugh I hate prednisone ……..

As per my understanding, you can’t just swap prednisone with budesonide, especially if you’ve been on prednisone for a while.
