Hello I'm new to fish keeping and I wanted some advice on how to care for them as well as what I can improve with the new tank I got for them. Before this they were in a 2.5 gallon tank which was far too small for them. I'm planning to upgrade them to a much large and planted tank in a few months.

I'm a new goldfish owner(2 common comet goldfish) and I keep finding these little white balls near the surface. They feel like soft gravel and break once you apply a bit of pressure to it. Any idea of what it is and if it's harmful to the fish?
