My safari fountain pen let's more ink out on watercolor surface vs just on paper. How to control it better? Should I just get a smaller nib? I'm already using a fine nib.

Studying light and shadow as I struggle with it alot. I took a picture of my last sketch and brought it into photoshop to play with the burn tool. Its amazing how much depth it brings.
