I'm sorry. I'm not trying to be mean. But perhaps focusing on how much better you'll be able to handle a child-related emergency if sober helps you find the motivation to cut down or quit. My point is it can be helpful to focus on a specific positive aspect of sobriety.

Thanks. I obviously have and do think what if my child needs emergency care during the night. Very thankful that she hasn't. I always said ill phone an ambulance or take a taxi, same as those who don't drive. I can definitely respond to her needs and always have. The fact I can do that, a more specific positive for me would be being a better role model and limiting my anxiety. I have an "alcoholic" mother and as much as I love her and blame the disease, I don't want my daughter to go through what I have. Sorry if I seemed harsh in my responses. I thought you were being very blunt and assuming I don't look after my child.
