Thanks! Yah, the flexibility of an academic schedule is a real perk. She works hybrid now but is trying to see if it can go remote. If not, then she'll need to job hunt later this spring.

Thank you for your thoughtful reply. (1) Not necessarily, since many us professional job will provide maternity benefits to all employees, regardless of tenure. However, she may need to change jobs (tbd) and pregnancy-discrimination could become a factor; (2) I think it'd be a struggle to just live on my salary; (3) yah, if I were single, I'd def go for it. But I love my partner and want this to work for us both; (4) I chose my grad program for my partner's career (though it wasn't a bad choice for me either). I think that I'd def move for her career again, but we should have this conversation.
